The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment,Dr. Jumoke Oduwole has charged the newly inaugurated board of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to drive digital reforms at the agency.
Inaugurating the board on Wednesday in Abuja, Dr Oduwole described the CAC as the fundamental legal framework for Nigeria’s economy.
She emphasized that the appointment of the board members by President Bola Tinubu was a result of careful consideration, given the commission’s vital role in business registration and economic stability.
She further expressed optimism that the new leadership would significantly improve Nigeria’s business ecosystem and global reputation.
The Minister charged the board to prioritize digital innovation, simplify registration processes for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and drive reforms that attract infrastructure investment and job creation.
Responding on behalf of the newly appointed members, the Chairman of the Governing Board, Senator Ibrahim Ida, identified technology, timelines, and trust as the primary areas requiring immediate attention.
He clarified that the board would focus on providing strategic direction rather than operational management to ensure the commission delivers efficient services.
Senator Ida pledged that the board would work under the Renewed Hope Agenda to make business registration in Nigeria faster, more affordable, and more transparent for both local and international stakeholders.
Supporting this vision, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Chris Isokpunwu, urged the board to foster synergy in border management and modernize registration processes to facilitate industrialization.
He assured the committee that the ministry would provide consistent policy guidance, with a focus on digital transformation and regulatory compliance, to ensure the commission effectively serves the Nigerian business community.
