Man arrested for allegedly defiling 13 year old girl in Ondo community

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, James Osita (also referred to as Osita James), for the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl at Asio community in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on Monday, the incident was reported on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

DSP Jimoh stated that the complaint was lodged at the police station by one Uchena (male), who reported that at about 4:00 p.m. on the same day, the minor was sexually abused by Osita James at Asio, Ile-Oluji.

“Upon receipt of the report, the victim was promptly rescued and taken for medical examination. The suspect was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody, where he reportedly made useful statements and confessed to the commission of the crime,” the PPRO narrated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim alleged the suspect had committed similar acts against her on several previous occasions.

The Police spokesman further confirmed that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

The command commended members of the public for their timely reporting of the crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to enable swift police intervention.

This arrest comes amid a series of similar cases in the region. In January 2026, the Oyo State Police Command arrested a 27-year-old man, Usman Azeez, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl while she fetched water from a river in Iseyin Local Government Area. Another case in Oyo involved the arrest of a 49-year-old man for the defilement of a 13-year-old girl.
