Man, 34, docked over alleged possession of stolen motorcycle

The police, on Thursday, arraigned a 34-year-old man, Adeniyi Adebayo, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of stolen motorcycle.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of possession of stolen motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in February in Ido-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the defendant had in his possession one unregistered red Bajaj boxer motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.

The offence, according to him, contravenes Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

Adeosun, thereafter, adjourned the case till Aug. 31 for hearing.
