A 30-year-old man, Tolu Akinlose, on Wednesday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged malicious damage of computers.

The defendant whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a one-count charge bordering on malicious damage.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 25, at about 2.00 p.m., at Ayeka in Okitipupa.

He alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged desktop and laptop computers at a BetNaija shop, while playing games.

He said that the shop is owned by one Mr Leke Michael.

According to the prosecutor, the computers are valued at N110,000.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 451 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

He held that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, and must also present evidence of two years tax payment to the state.

The court adjourned the case until April 24, for hearing.
