Fiery public speaker and former Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, Prof. Patrick Lumumba, is set to deliver the 50th Anniversary Lecture of the University of Ilorin on Thursday, 27 November 2025.
In a statement by Mr Kunle Akogun, the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, the lecture is described as one of the major highlights of the week-long celebrations marking UNILORIN’s Golden Jubilee.
The statement reads partly:
“The Lecture, which is expected to commence at 10.00 a.m., will hold at the University Auditorium. Other activities lined up for the 50th Anniversary include a N500 billion endowment fund raising for the building of a state-of-the-art Innovation and Transcript Hub; award of recognition for deserving alumni of the University, as well as the premiere of a Nollywood movie, ‘Son of Iron’.”
Mr Akogun added that the anniversary events aim to celebrate UNILORIN’s achievements, recognise distinguished alumni, and support strategic development projects to advance education and innovation.
The Golden Jubilee week also includes cultural and entertainment events, highlighting the University’s commitment to blending academic excellence with creative initiatives.
The University has invited students, staff, alumni, and the general public to attend the lecture and participate in the celebratory activities.
