The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Wednesday inducted Mrs. Mobolaji Daba, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, as its Special Traffic Mayor.
The ceremony took place at the Roundhouse, Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, Daba expressed her gratitude to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and the entire LASTMA team for the prestigious honour.
She emphasised the importance of professionalism and dedication in ensuring that Lagos roads remain orderly.
“LASTMA officers have played an essential role in reducing congestion and promoting a seamless flow of traffic in the state. Your efforts in maintaining discipline on Lagos roads are invaluable,” she said.
Daba further encouraged LASTMA officials to continue their excellent work, reassuring them that their efforts are appreciated and will not go unnoticed.
“Sometimes, commendations may come later than expected, but remember that people are always watching, and your good work will always be recognised,” she added.
The initiative, introduced by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, and the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki, is marked at enhancing collaboration between the state government and key stakeholders in traffic management.
Director of Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor of LASTMA, Mr. Jimmy Awoyemi explained that the initiative sought the support and cooperation of the Body of Permanent Secretaries in Lagos to improve traffic conditions and drive economic development in the state.
Daba added by offering her full support to LASTMA’s efforts, reiterating her commitment to helping ease traffic congestion across Lagos.
