The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) has pledged to deliver reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity supply across Lagos State.
The agency made the pledge at the maiden edition of the LASERC Stakeholders Engagement held in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event marked a major step in the development of the state’s electricity market following the transfer of regulatory oversight from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to LASERC.
Delivering her remarks at the event, the Agemcy’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Temitope George, declared that the Commission would focus on consumer protection, market transparency, investment promotion and enforcement of operational standards.
Highlighting the agency’s mission, she noted that
LASERC’s mission is to regulate the Lagos electricity market by setting standards, safeguarding consumers, supporting innovation and promoting clean energy.
She added that the Commission would also encourage private sector investment, grid modernisation, energy efficiency and improved service delivery across the state.
The agency’s CEO further highlighted key areas of its regulatory framework, including licensing of electricity providers, tariff regulation, consumer protection, market development and enforcement of quality standards stressing the importance of collaboration among Distribution Companies (DisCos), Generation Companies (GenCos), investors and consumers in achieving a stable and efficient electricity market.
