LASCOPA, FCCPC strengthen collaboration on consumer protection‎

The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has strengthened it’s collaboration with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) as part of efforts to protect consumer rights.

The collaboration was reiterated when a team from the South-West office of the FCCPC led by Dr. (Mrs.) Olubunmi Dorcas Otiti paid a courtesy visit to the LASCOPA headquarters in Ikeja, where they were received by the agency’s General Manager alongside members of the management team.

‎During the engagement, both agencies deliberated on critical consumer protection concerns, with emphasis on price transparency, the proper display of price tags, and the potential health risks linked to exposing plastic bottled drinks to direct sunlight.

‎According to reports the discussions underscored the need to curb deceptive pricing practices while ensuring that consumers have access to clear, accurate, and visible pricing information across markets and retail outlets.

‎LASCOPA and FCCPC also reiterated their shared resolve to intensify enforcement measures, promote regulatory compliance, and enhance public awareness on consumer rights and safety standards further strengthening inter-agency cooperation, positioning both bodies to more effectively safeguard consumer interests and uphold fair market practices in Lagos State.
