The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to strengthen consumer protection in the state.

The partnership is expected to improve collaboration between both agencies in addressing consumer rights issues, enhancing regulatory compliance and ensuring a fair marketplace for consumers and businesses.

As part of the collaboration, LASCOPA and the FCCPC will jointly host a stakeholders’ engagement forum on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with the theme: “Price Tagging, Minimum Labelling Requirements and Return/Refund: The Implications of Non-Regulatory Compliance.”

According to LASCOPA, the forum will provide a platform for regulators, businesses and other stakeholders to deliberate on compliance with consumer protection regulations, particularly in the areas of price display, product labelling and return and refund policies.

The agency said the engagement would also review the progress made in implementing consumer protection measures, strengthen inter-agency collaboration and reaffirm the commitment of stakeholders to safeguarding consumer rights in Lagos State.

LASCOPA further urged consumers to actively participate in the engagement by submitting questions, observations and concerns ahead of the forum through its dedicated email address for consideration during the discussions.

The agency noted that the initiative forms part of efforts by the Lagos State Government to build a transparent, accountable and consumer-friendly business environment while ensuring that the rights of consumers are adequately protected.
