The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 Tracking Dashboard to strengthen accountability, improve coordination among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and accelerate the implementation of the state’s long-term development agenda.
The digital performance management platform was launched on Tuesday during a Stakeholders’ Parley on the Implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan 2052, held at Protea Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja.
The event, themed “Achieving Lagos’ Vision: Africa’s Model Mega-City, a Global Economic and Financial Hub that is Safe, Secure, Functional, and Productive,” brought together accounting officers and senior government officials to review the implementation framework of the development plan and align institutional priorities.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, described the LSDP 2052 as the state’s strategic blueprint for sustainable development and transformational governance, noting that it provides clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and defined responsibilities for MDAs.
She stated that accounting officers bear a critical responsibility in translating the development plan into measurable results through effective planning, prudent resource management, timely project delivery, and continuous performance monitoring.
Ojo urged participants to share implementation experiences, identify challenges, and propose innovative solutions to strengthen institutional performance and speed up the delivery of government projects.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Lekan Balogun, described the LSDP 2052 as Lagos’ collective vision for the next three decades.
He emphasized that the successful execution of the plan will depend on disciplined implementation, sustainable financing, effective collaboration, and continuous monitoring.
According to him, the newly unveiled tracking dashboard marks a significant step toward institutionalizing evidence-based planning and performance management across government.
Balogun explained that the platform will enable the government to monitor implementation progress in real time, detect bottlenecks early, and objectively assess the performance of MDAs to support informed policy decisions.
He also stressed the need for planning and budgeting to remain closely aligned, noting that development priorities must be adequately reflected in annual budgets to ensure efficient public spending and improved service delivery.
Calling for greater commitment from stakeholders, he urged MDAs to strengthen collaboration across ministries, improve data quality and reporting, eliminate implementation delays, and take collective ownership of the development plan.
“The future of Lagos will not be determined by the quality of our plans alone. It will be determined by the quality of our execution,” he said, adding that every MDA must deliver its assigned initiatives with professionalism, accountability, and measurable impact.
Participants at the parley reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional partnerships and promoting a results-driven public service to ensure the successful implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan 2052.
The development plan serves as Lagos State’s long-term strategic framework for inclusive economic growth, infrastructure expansion, environmental sustainability, social development, and institutional excellence, while guiding government policies and investments toward building a globally competitive, safe, functional, and prosperous megacity.
