The Lagos State Government has announced that public consultations for the 2026 budget will begin this week across its five divisions.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, said the exercise is designed to give residents the opportunity to influence developmental priorities and ensure evidence-based planning.
He stressed that the fora remain central to the state’s budgetary process, adding that they guarantee the voices of citizens remain at the centre of governance.
According to the government, the meetings will bring together representatives of community development associations, traditional institutions, professional bodies, religious organisations, civil society, non-governmental and trade groups, youth associations, and persons with disabilities.
The consultations are scheduled to hold as follows: Ikeja Division on Tuesday, September 9 at the Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi; Lagos Division on Wednesday, September 10 at Eko Club, Surulere; Ikorodu Division on Thursday, September 11 at Ikorodu Town Hall; Epe Division on Friday, September 12 at Jubilee Chalet, Epe; and Badagry Division on Tuesday, September 16 at Makanjuola Auditorium, Lagos State University, Ojo. All sessions will begin at 10:00 a.m.
For residents unable to attend physically, the state government said contributions can be sent virtually via email to budget@lagosstate.gov.ng, with submissions clearly indicating the contributor’s division.
The government urged Lagosians to take advantage of the platform to make inputs that would shape projects and programmes aimed at building a 21st-century economy and achieving a “Greater Lagos” for all.
