The Lagos State Task Force has apprehended several residents for illegally dumping refuse around the Akesan area of Alimosho Local Government Area.

The arrests followed reports from the Oba of Akesan and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), prompting swift enforcement action by state officials.

In a statement issued on Wednesday via X, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests, noting that the offenders had been taken to the Task Force Office in Oshodi for prosecution.

According to him, “Following reports from the Oba of Akesan and LAWMA, enforcement officers this morning arrested residents caught dumping waste illegally in Akesan, Alimosho LGA. The offenders were taken to the Task Force Office in Oshodi for prosecution.”

Wahab reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a clean and healthy environment, warning that anyone caught violating the state’s sanitation laws would face strict legal consequences.
