The Lagos State Government has released a comprehensive traffic management plan to facilitate the Phase 1 reconstruction and expansion of Ogunnusi Road in the Ikeja Local Government Area.
The project, overseen by the Federal Ministry of Works, covers a 9.0-kilometre dual carriage corridor, with the first phase focusing on the 4.5-kilometre stretch from Ojodu-Berger Bus-Stop toward the Mobil Filling Station Junction.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 6, 2026, and Phase 1 is expected to conclude by February 6, 2027, while the entire project is slated for completion in January 2028.
During the construction period, vehicular access will be restricted within the work zone, necessitating several diversion routes.
Motorists heading toward Ijaye and Agege from Ojodu-Berger will be diverted onto a one-kilometre contraflow on the outbound carriageway, while an alternative route via Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Way and Obafemi Awolowo Way is also available.
Articulated vehicle drivers traveling from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Agege are advised to route through Ojota, Maryland, and Oba Akran Avenue.
To manage potential breakdowns and emergencies, the state has stationed tow vehicles at strategic points along the corridor.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists to comply with traffic signage and cooperate with officials to ensure safety during the expansion works.
