Lagos resident appeals for Police protection over alleged death threats, assault by in-laws

9 Mar 2026

A resident of Lagos Island, Olanrewaju Shobo, has cried out for Police intervention following alleged threats to his life and the safety of his family.

The dispute is reportedly linked to the troubled marriage of his sister, which has sparked a series of violent confrontations.

Shobo, who resides on Oshodi Street, traced the escalation of the conflict to an incident on February 17, 2026.

He claimed to have been subjected to repeated harassment from his brother-in-law’s family since his sister, Oluwaseun Shobo, fled Nigeria with her three children several years ago.

The marital crisis, which allegedly involved domestic violence and prior threats to life, had previously been reported to the Nigeria Police Force at the Adeniji station.

According to the complainant, his sister-in-law has maintained a campaign of intimidation, frequently calling and messaging him to demand information regarding his sister’s current location abroad.

Shobo alleged that these communications include explicit threats of bodily harm and death against him and other relatives if they refuse to disclose his sister’s whereabouts.

The situation turned physical recently when individuals purportedly linked to the in-laws attacked Shobo, leaving him with various injuries.

Fearing for his continued safety, the Lagos resident is now calling on the police command to provide immediate protection and conduct a thorough investigation into the threats to prevent a potentially fatal escalation.
