Lagos Police receive operational assets ahead of violent crime response unit launch

‎The Lagos State Police Command has received additional operational assets from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund ahead of the official launch of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), as part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

‎The operational equipment, presented to the Command on Friday, includes two operational vehicles, 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests, and 50 ballistic shields aimed at strengthening crime prevention and rapid response operations across Lagos State.

‎Presenting the items on behalf of the LSSTF, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of critical logistics and operational tools needed for effective policing and public safety.

‎Receiving the assets on behalf of the Command, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their continued support toward strengthening security in the state. He noted that the operational assets would improve the readiness and efficiency of the newly established VCRU in tackling violent crimes, responding swiftly to emergencies, and safeguarding lives and property across Lagos.

‎He further reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, effective crime prevention, and improved public safety, in line with the reform agenda of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
