The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the six-week repair of the Adeniji Adele Interchange–CMS corridor, scheduled to commence on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and end on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, the rehabilitation project will be carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works as part of ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and reduce traffic gridlock within the metropolis.
The statement noted that repair works would run daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a phased lane closure plan to minimise disruption. Only one lane will be closed at a time, while the remaining lanes will remain open to motorists.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said traffic management officers would be deployed to strategic points to direct motorists and ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the duration of the repairs.
“The repair will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily, commencing on Sunday, 12th October, and ending on Sunday, 23rd November, 2025 — a duration of six weeks,” the Commissioner stated. “To minimise traffic disruptions, only one lane will be closed at a time, while the remaining lanes will be open to motorists.”
He appealed for the cooperation of road users, urging them to comply with all traffic signs and diversion notices placed along the route.
“We urge motorists to cooperate with our traffic officers and comply with all diversion signs. The lane restriction is necessary to allow the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out comprehensive repairs that will improve road quality and driving experience along this corridor,” he added.
Mr. Osiyemi further explained that the temporary closures are part of a joint effort between the Federal and Lagos State Governments aimed at strengthening road connectivity and enhancing safety across the city.
He emphasised that maintaining the structural integrity of major highways such as the Adeniji Adele–CMS corridor, which links vital commercial areas including Marina, Broad Street, and Victoria Island, is key to sustaining economic growth and commuter efficiency.
Upon completion, the rehabilitation is expected to ease travel delays, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance driving conditions for thousands of motorists who rely on the route daily for business and commuting.
The Lagos State Government encouraged residents to plan their journeys ahead and use alternative routes where necessary, assuring that updates would be provided regularly through official channels during the repair period.
