Labourer jailed 2 years for stealing filing machine

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced 20 -year-old, labourer, Nanle Solomon, to two years in prison for stealing a filing machine.

The convict pleaded guilty to the 2- count charge of trespass and theft brought against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict to one year in prison for trespass with the option of N50, 000 fine, and another one year for theft or N50, 000 fine, both to run concurrently.

While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Insp Daniel Damulak told the court that the complainant, Lilian Nwamtok reported the case on March 26, at the Anglo-Jos Police station.

Damulak said the convict trespassed into the complainant’s compound, opened her car and stole the filing machine before he was caught.

He said the offences contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
