As part of measures to create a conducive learning environment, the Kwara State Government has warned against school bullying and other related offences involving pupils and students.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs) Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, represented by the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Ubandawaki, made this known while addressing a case of school bullying in the Ministry.
Afolashade stated that the state government has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse among students, pointing out that all forms of bullying, body shaming, use of derogatory language, fighting, cultism, illicit use of drugs, and sexual harassment would not be tolerated by the State Government.
Earlier, the Director, Child Development Directorate, Hajia Idiat Alabi, noted that there have been several reported cases of pupils and students harassing one another; hence, the state government is issuing an official warning against such acts.
She further stressed that related cases could be reported to the Ministry at the Child Development Directorate, reiterating that the mandate of the Ministry is to protect the rights of children and ensure their total well-being.
“Kwara State Government will not tolerate all forms of undesirable behaviours from the students, adding that the Ministry will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders to enforce discipline in all schools across the state,” the commissioner said.
