Kwara renews commitment to child protection, safety

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding children from abuse and violence, pledging to prioritize their rights and overall well-being.

The State Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam (PhD), gave the assurance while speaking at the 2026 Children’s Party organized by the Ministry in Ilorin.

Imam affirmed that the administration sees children as a vulnerable group central to building a healthy society.

She pledged the government’s support in ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“I want you to know that the Kwara State Government stands as your guardian, your protector, and your supporter,” Imam told the children. “We carry you in our hearts and in our policies. We are committed to giving you not just shelter but a future filled with care, education, dignity, and opportunity.”

She described the party as a moment of love, compassion, and reassurance, designed to foster a sense of belonging.

The Commissioner also commended development partners for their feedback and initiatives that strengthen child-focused programmes in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing the resources necessary for ministries to achieve their goals.

He noted that the event created memorable moments for the children and encouraged them to remain focused on their ambitions.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, also commended the Ministry of Social Development for organizing a programme that promotes joy and positive experiences for the state’s children.
