The Kwara State Government has entered into partnership with the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative to improve care, advocacy, and empowerment for persons and families affected by cerebral palsy.
The State Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, announced this during a courtesy visit to her office by the Founder of the initiative, Mr. Ifeoluwa Oluwaseyi Anise.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner, she noted that the government’s support was part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusion, create awareness, and reduce the economic burdens associated with cerebral palsy.
She stressed the importance of empathy and practical support in enhancing the well-being of patients and their families.
Imam commended Mr. Anise for dedicating resources to persons living with the condition, urging him to sustain his efforts to improve societal outcomes.
Earlier, the Founder of Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative, Mr. Anise, said the visit aimed at securing collaboration with the state government and extending an official invitation to the Ministry for the forthcoming Cerebral Palsy Day celebration.
He explained that the event would raise awareness, mobilise stakeholders for action, and feature empowerment programmes for caregivers and patients, equipping them with tools and skills to promote independence.
Mr. Anise also lauded the Kwara State Government for creating a supportive environment for advocacy groups, describing its role as instrumental to the success of inclusive programmes.
The visit featured the presentation of a recognition plaque to the Commissioner for her contribution to inclusive policies and social development in the state.
