The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kwara Chapter, has commended Gov. Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for approving the payment of all outstanding allowances and entitlements owed to lawyers in the Ministry of Justice.
In a letter of appreciation addressed to the governor, a copy of which was made available to journalsts in Ilorin on Friday, the association’ Chairman, Mr Kehinde Ayorinde, described the gesture as a magnanimous display of leadership.
Ayorinde said the approval demonstrated that the welfare of workers remains a priority of the present administration, adding “this will further motivate State Counsel in the discharge of their duties.”
The chairman also appealed to the governor to also look into the remaining aspect of its request, the harmonisation of salary for law officers in the state.
The newsmen recall that recently law officers in the Kwara State Ministry of Justice embarked on indefinite strike over alleged non-payment of outstanding statutory allowances.
The law officers also alleged failure of the state government to harmonise salaries of law officers in the state with those of the magistrates in the judiciary.
