The Kwara State Government has presented eight new motorcycles to the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) to boost patrol operations, traffic monitoring, rapid emergency response, and the enforcement of traffic regulations across the state.
The official handover, held at the Ministry of Transportation in Ilorin, forms part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s ongoing drive to enhance urban mobility, improve road safety, and promote compliance with traffic laws.
Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, explained that the motorcycles will provide KWARTMA officers with the mobility needed to conduct routine patrols, monitor congested corridors, respond swiftly to incidents, and enforce regulations.
According to him, improved mobility will lead to safer roads, smoother vehicular movement, and higher compliance with traffic laws, ultimately benefiting motorists and residents across the state.
The commissioner described the initiative as another reflection of the administration’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and ensuring efficient service delivery across the State of Harmony.
He assured that the assets would be judiciously deployed and properly maintained to serve their intended purpose.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Mallam Abdullahi Oba Sulaiman, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq, noting that the intervention demonstrates the administration’s focus on commuter safety.
Sulaiman stated that the motorcycles will significantly aid officers in curbing reckless driving and reducing avoidable accidents on major roads.
He also commended the commissioner and the ministry’s management team for facilitating the delivery, adding that the eight units were thoroughly inspected and confirmed to meet operational standards.
