The Kwara State Government has commenced the reconstruction of bi-water facilities and the reticulation of water pipelines across various communities to reduce the challenges of water scarcity in the state.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, disclosed this at Gada-Woro, Patigi Local Government Area, during an on-the-spot assessment of the reconstruction of a dilapidated bi-water facility and ongoing water reticulation projects in the community.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Acting Director of Water Engineering Services, Engr. Hajara Aremu, stated that extensive water reticulation projects are also ongoing in the Wara, Egbejila, and Mogaji-Ogo communities within the Ilorin metropolis.
Lade explained that the bi-water facility at Gada-Woro is being converted into an integrated water supply system with an expanded pipeline reticulation network and additional fetching points to ensure wider access to potable water for residents.
He noted that the Jebba community is similarly benefiting from water pipeline construction, extension, and expansion projects, which are currently at an advanced stage.
The commissioner assured residents that the projects would be completed within a short period to enable more people to access safe and potable water, emphasizing that the state government remains fully committed to addressing water scarcity in the affected areas.
Speaking on behalf of the Gada-Woro community, Alhaji Abubakar Baiwa described the project as laudable, adding that its completion would go a long way toward alleviating the suffering of the people and improving their standard of living.
Baiwa pledged the community’s commitment to safeguarding the infrastructure for the overall benefit of residents and thanked the state government for the timely intervention.
