The Kwara State Government has officially delivered a comprehensive suite of hospital and medical equipment to the school clinic at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Osi Campus.
The intervention stands as a testament to the administration’s broader mandate of ensuring that high-standard medical services are accessible to all residents, including those within specialized institutional environments.
During the formal presentation of the items, Professor Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), reaffirmed that the state’s primary health objective remains the construction of a robust healthcare framework through consistent investment in both physical infrastructure and human capital.
She credited the success of these initiatives to the visionary leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum has been marked by deliberate efforts to achieve equitable health coverage across all sixteen Local Government Areas of the state.
Professor Elelu noted that the state’s healthcare reforms are producing measurable global-standard results.
Kwara State has notably secured the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge title for three consecutive years and currently ranks first in the North Central Zone for health preparedness.
The state has also been recognized as one of the safest regions in Nigeria for maternal health, a feat the Executive Secretary attributed to intentional policy-making, rigorous staff training, and aggressive recruitment drives to ensure adequate medical coverage.
The Agency remains dedicated to its role as the coordinating body for primary health services, ensuring that every program and reform aligns with national standards and international best practices.
Professor Elelu assured the public that the KWSPHCDA will continue to lead the charge in strengthening service delivery to maintain these high performance indices.
Accepting the donation on behalf of the university, the Head of the Osi Campus and Dean of Environmental Sciences, Professor Binta Ajibola Suleiman, expressed deep gratitude for the government’s rapid response to the institution’s needs.
She characterized the intervention as both timely and deeply impactful, noting that the speed of the approval process reflects a genuine administrative concern for the physical wellbeing of the university’s students and staff.
Professor Suleiman pledged that the university would reciprocate this support through continued cooperation and a willingness to collaborate on health initiatives that benefit both the campus and the surrounding Osi communities.
The delivered consignment features a wide array of clinical essentials, ranging from ward infrastructure like hospital beds, mattresses, and pillows, to diagnostic and laboratory tools including centrifuge machines, sphygmomanometers, and test tubes.
The state also provided operational supplies such as clinical uniforms, medical footwear, and essential consumables to ensure the clinic is fully equipped for immediate service delivery.
