As part of efforts to strengthen emergency response and enhance public safety across Kwara State, the State Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Muhammed Alabi, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to partnering with local councils to prevent fire disasters.
Alabi made this known while leading a delegation of senior officers on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Mallam Lukman Olayinka Garba Agbelere, at the Local Government Secretariat in Oke-Oyi.
He explained that the visit aimed to foster stronger synergy between the Kwara State Fire Service and Ilorin East Local Government.
He added that similar collaborations are planned with other local councils to facilitate faster and more effective emergency response services state-wide.
Alabi reaffirmed the Service’s unwavering commitment to supporting local governments in fire prevention, firefighting, flood management, rescue operations, and public safety awareness.
He noted that the agency remains prepared to partner with local authorities to safeguard lives, property, and the environment.
He appealed to the Chairman for continued support, particularly regarding operational mobility and other critical operational needs that would enhance the Service’s prompt response during emergencies.
Responding, Mallam Lukman Olayinka Garba Agbelere commended the Kwara State Fire Service for its dedication to protecting lives and property.
He assured the officers that his office would always remain accessible to the agency and pledged his administration’s readiness to support its operations complementing the remarkable efforts of the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in upgrading the Fire Service.
“Partnerships with local governments and other stakeholders within the council will be sustained to enhance emergency preparedness, promote fire safety awareness, and ensure a safer Kwara State for all,” the Chairman added.
