The Kwara State Government has inaugurated a Taskforce on Hospitality Reform as part of its drive to reposition the state’s tourism and hospitality industry to meet international standards.
The initiative forms a central component of the administration’s rural and urban renewal agenda.
Chairman of the taskforce and Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, said the reform is designed to create a more attractive operating environment for investors, operators, and visitors.
“This administration under the leadership of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to raising the bar in the hospitality and tourism sector,” Olukoju stated during the inauguration. “With this Taskforce, we are determined to ensure Kwara’s hospitality industry is modern, properly regulated, and competitive with global standards.”
The taskforce draws membership from key state agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency, and the Kwara State Hospitality Management and Tourism Board.
It is also expected to work closely with national institutions such as the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHTOUR).
Speaking on behalf of the taskforce, Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitality Management Board, Mrs. Akanni Ramat Adenike, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for establishing the committee and pledged its commitment to delivering on the mandate.
