Kwara Chess Association Unveils Development Plans

The newly inaugurated Kwara Chess Association has  promised  to expand the game of chess across the state and promote grassroots participation.

Toyin Saheed, Media officer of the association in  a statment said the Chairman of the association, Femi Yusuf, said this at  its inaugural meeting on Friday in Ilorin.

According  to Yusuf,  his five points agenda includes the establishment of more private chess clubs across the state and building a permanent secretariat.

“The agenda also include taking chess activities to primary and secondary schools, and seeking sponsorship to boost the association’s programmes,” he said.

The Chairman congratulated members on their appointment and described the opportunity to lead the association as a privilege.

He pledged to spread the game of chess to all the nooks and crannies of the state, through inclusive programmes and strategic partnerships.

Yusuf  urged members of the association to reach out to individuals, corporate organisations and other stakeholders for sponsorship and support towards the growth of chess in the state.

He assured members of his commitment to moving the association forward, particularly in securing a befitting office accommodation and organising a major chess tournament for the state.
