Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the appointment of a seven-man committee to coordinate humanitarian support for the Woro community following recent incidents in the area.
According to a statement released Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the committee will be chaired by His Royal Highness Hon. Ahmed Ibn Muhammad.
Muhammad, the Kiwozi of Kugiji, is a former lawmaker from the Kaiama Local Government Area.
The committee’s membership includes Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, Vice Chairman of the Kaiama Local Government Council; Alhaji Abubakar Mora; and the Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu. Rounding out the team are representatives from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), and a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Tasked with a four-week mandate, the committee is expected to interface with community leaders to oversee rebuilding efforts, identify the specific needs of survivors, and resolve other outstanding issues related to the governor’s earlier support pledges.
