Kwara State Government has intensified efforts to implement a sustainable renewable energy project by conducting a technical inspection and survey of a proposed site for a solar farm aimed at boosting socio-economic development across the State.

The exercise, announced by the State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, included a courtesy visit to the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye Adetona I, at his residence in Ilorin before the team proceeded to Erin-Ile for an on-site evaluation.

AbdulGaniy explained that the inspection is part of the government’s strategic initiative to identify technically and environmentally suitable locations for solar energy infrastructure.

“This exercise is aimed at improving electricity supply, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents,” he said.

The commissioner noted that the inspection follows earlier assessments conducted in November 2025 by representatives of Energy China and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), as well as a recent December inspection by the Ministry’s technical team to collect data and advance energy planning.

These efforts align with collaborative initiatives from the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Energy China, and the NGF.
Highlighting the government’s commitment, AbdulGaniy added.

The Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye Adetona I, commended the state government for prioritizing renewable energy.

He described electricity as fundamental to community growth and economic development, assuring full cooperation and support for the successful implementation of the project.
