The Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Mr. Lee Sang-ho, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at the Agency’s headquarters in Lagos.
The high-level engagement served as a strategic platform to reinforce mutual interests in the maritime sector, with both parties identifying maritime capacity development as a critical driver of economic growth and sustainable governance.
Mr. Sang-ho reiterated Korea’s readiness to support Nigeria’s maritime aspirations through the provision of technical expertise, workforce training, and knowledge exchange programs.
He emphasised Korea’s commitment to nurturing a skilled maritime workforce that can contribute to safer and more efficient maritime operations.
In response, Dr. Mobereola expressed gratitude for Korea’s sustained support and reaffirmed NIMASA’s dedication to building robust international partnerships.
He noted that collaborations such as this align with Nigeria’s ambition to emerge as a leading maritime nation on the African continent.
The discussions concluded with a shared vision for an enhanced maritime industry underpinned by global best practices, institutional cooperation, and a strong, skilled professional base.
