The Kogi State Police Command has urged residents to comply fully with the State Government’s directive on the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks in parts of the state, particularly within the Kogi West Senatorial District.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi gave the advice in line with an executive order issued by the Kogi State Government as part of temporary security measures to support ongoing security operations.
According to the Police Command, the directive is aimed at enhancing security operations being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and other sister security agencies. Residents, traders, and transport operators in affected communities were urged to strictly adhere to the directive for the duration of the operations.
The temporary closure affects selected markets and motor parks in parts of Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, as earlier announced by the state government. Members of the public were advised to plan their activities accordingly, as compliance will be closely monitored by security agencies.
The Commissioner of Police commended residents of the affected areas for their patience and cooperation, assuring them of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
He also encouraged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Police Command’s emergency control room numbers.
The Kogi State Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to sustain peace and security across the state and called for continued cooperation from the public to ensure the success of the ongoing security operations.
