Malam Hudu Hassan Barau, the ward head of the Shuwaka community in Plateau State’s Kanam Local Government Area, has been found dead six days after being abducted.
His body was discovered on Monday morning in a bush near the Wanka forest.
The Chairman and Secretary of the Kanam Development Association, Barr. Garba G. Aliyu and ND Shehu Kanam, confirmed both the abduction and the killing.
The community condemned the incident as “senseless” and a “stark reminder of the persistent insecurity and banditry” plaguing the area.
According to the Association’s secretary, the community has made repeated pleas to the government to address the security menace, but their warnings have gone unheeded.
He urged leaders to take immediate action to ensure the safety of residents, who are living in constant fear.
