She is the creative force behind some of Nigeria’s most iconic and commercially successful productions, including The Wedding Party, King of Boys, the documentary series King Women, and her recent work, To Kill a Monkey. Kemi’s remarkable journey began well before she stepped into the director’s chair. Though a trained lawyer who earned her LLB from the University of Lagos, she followed her passion to the New York Film Academy to refine her craft in filmmaking. Even before her work in film, she was a familiar and celebrated voice on air, starting her career as an On-Air Personality at Silverbird Entertainment’s Rhythm FM. She later transitioned to television, gracing screens on M-Net’s Studio 53, Soundcity, and the Maltina Dance All reality show, establishing herself as a top media personality.
For over 25 years, Kemi has moved seamlessly across industries from radio to television, and now film consistently leaving her mark with unmatched depth, excellence, and authenticity.
Early in her career, she served as President of K’Alpha Innovations, a media production company focused on music video production, which nurtured her distinctive flair for visual storytelling and direction long before her feature films made her a household name.
Today, as the Founder of Kemi Adetiba Visuals (KAV), a 360-degree production company specializing in film, documentaries, online content, and commercials, Kemi continues to push creative boundaries and empower others through storytelling that feels raw, real, and revolutionary.
