The Kano State House of Assembly has formally received the State Police Bill and commenced its legislative review without delay.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Assembly confirmed that copies of the bill have been circulated to all honorable members for in-depth study, analysis, and possible input.

The statement noted that the bill was read on the floor of the House during a recent plenary session, giving members the opportunity to begin proper legislative consideration in accordance with due process.

Following individual reviews by members, the bill is scheduled for a second reading on October 12, 2026, for further deliberation and approval by the full House.

Speaking on the development, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore, reiterated that the state is fully committed and prepared to confront security challenges head-on.

He stressed that while Kano remains relatively peaceful compared to many other states, proactive legislation is crucial to sustaining and strengthening its security architecture.
