Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the release of ₦4.289 billion for the payment of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits owed to retired civil servants and the families of deceased workers.
These funds, drawn from obligations under the Contributory Pension Scheme and the Defined Benefit Scheme, represent a significant step in the administration’s ongoing efforts to clear inherited liabilities and strengthen social protection for senior citizens.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, emphasized that this intervention underscores the Governor’s people-focused governance and his sustained commitment to the welfare of retirees.
The Commissioner noted that the latest approval reflects a determination to restore dignity to those who dedicated their productive years to public service, ensuring that their sacrifices are properly honored.
Malam Maiyaki explained that the disbursement is part of a broader strategy to reduce pension arrears and rebuild public confidence in the pension administration system.
Since its inception, the administration has now disbursed a cumulative ₦17.796 billion, benefiting at least 8,344 retirees and families of deceased workers across the state.
These interventions are integrated into governance reforms aimed at fiscal discipline, transparency, and sustainable public finance management.
The Commissioner assured the public that the state government will continue to prioritize the prompt settlement of pension obligations while maintaining the long-term stability of the system.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity of labor and ensuring that public servants can retire with security, respect, and peace of mind.
