Operatives of the security agencies in Enugu State have arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered a firearm as well as ₦2 million ransom in Adani, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 10, 2026, when Mrs. Joseph Victoria was abducted along Umeje Road, Adani, by armed men suspected to be kidnappers.

The suspects were said to have initially demanded ₦40 million for her release, but the victim’s husband was able to raise only ₦2 million, which was paid to the abductors.

Following the report of the incident, security operatives were immediately mobilised from Asaba in a coordinated operation involving personnel of the 82 Division Nigerian Army Garrison based in Adani.

Through the joint operation, the suspected kidnappers were tracked and arrested, while the victim was reportedly rescued.

During the operation, security operatives recovered one pump-action rifle and the ₦2 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family.

The suspects and recovered exhibits have since been handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Adani, under the Nigeria Police Force in Enugu State, for further investigation and prosecution.

Security authorities commended the swift response and collaboration between agencies, particularly the military support provided by the 82 Division Garrison, which they said was instrumental to the success of the operation.

Investigations are ongoing, while efforts are said to be in place to dismantle the wider network behind kidnapping activities in the area.
