Johnnie Walker launches AfroExchange with a bold send-off for Nigerian creatives in Lagos

28 Jun 2025

Johnnie Walker, the world’s leading Scotch whisky brand, has officially launched Johnnie Walker AfroExchange, a bold new cultural platform designed to connect and elevate Africa’s most exciting talents across music, art, fashion, and storytelling.

Inspired by the brand’s iconic Keep Walking ethos, AfroExchange aims to serve as a cultural bridge—fostering collaboration between African cities and celebrating the pulse of the continent’s creative energy.

The inaugural edition kicked off with a vibrant send-off event in Lagos before heading to its first major showcase in Johannesburg on June 28.

The Lagos event, held at the creatively charged Trib3 Lagos venue, featured music, art, and conversation that honored the connection between Nigeria and South Africa. It also celebrated the three Nigerian ambassadors—Bnxn, Dope Caesar, and Saga—who will represent Nigeria at the Johannesburg gathering.

Attendees included top creators, cultural insiders, and media partners, all united by a shared vision of African creativity on a global stage.

“This platform is a powerful evolution in how we engage with culture,” said Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencer and Advocacy at Diageo South, West, and Central Africa.

“We are investing in the voices and innovations driving the Afrocultural movement forward. AfroExchange is a space for connection, creative experimentation, and cultural pride.”

The night blended high-energy DJ sets with panel discussions hosted by cultural commentator Ehis, featuring voices like Joey Akan and Quincy Jonze.

They explored the synergy between Afrobeats and Amapiano, highlighting how both genres are shaping modern African identity.

Johnnie Walker AfroExchange extends the brand’s deep commitment to Africa’s creative economy, positioning itself not just as a sponsor, but as an active participant in shaping cultural conversations.

Following the Johannesburg showcase, Lagos will host the next AfroExchange later this year, with the platform expected to tour other major African cities in the near future.

With AfroExchange, Johnnie Walker isn’t just celebrating African culture—it’s investing in its future.
