The Jigawa State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar A. Namadi, has approved ₦216.66 million for the implementation of the Free JAMB Support Programme under the Danmodi Student Care Initiative.

During the Council meeting held on April 20, 2026, the government confirmed that the funds would provide free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration PINs and pre-examination coaching for eligible students across the state.

This initiative specifically targets students from less privileged backgrounds to alleviate the financial burden of examination registration, which remains a significant barrier to tertiary education in Nigeria.

By removing these costs, the Council aims to increase the number of candidates pursuing higher education and strengthen human capital development within the state.

To ensure the programme’s effectiveness, the Council emphasized its commitment to a transparent implementation process, ensuring that only qualified candidates benefit from the support.

The initiative is expected to expand educational opportunities significantly and foster long-term academic growth for Jigawa’s youth.
