The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Professional Test Centres (PTCs) to strengthen protection of its facilities nationwide, following rising cases of theft and vandalism.
Declaring open a high-level security meeting with Zonal Directors, State Coordinators and Heads of PTCs, JAMB Registrar, represented by the Director, Registrar’s Office, Mr. Mufutau Bello, said the Board had recorded repeated invasions at some of its offices despite earlier security arrangements.
He emphasised the need for robust surveillance, improved policing, and stronger synergy among stakeholders, disclosing that the Board was procuring raincoats, boots and other equipment to support security personnel. “We are committed to creating an enabling environment that will enhance efficiency and effective surveillance,” Bello said.
Mr. Chidebe Achunine, Director, Special Duties, cited recent incidents at the Benin Zonal Office, Kebbi State Office, and the PTC along Ilobu Road in Osogbo, as reminders of the urgent need to strengthen security consciousness.
He noted that the management had earlier issued a security advisory on August 20, 2025, to address the breaches.
The meeting also formally introduced Assistant Corps Commandant (ACC) Nda Ali Ibrahim, the newly designated NSCDC Desk Officer at JAMB Headquarters, who will coordinate information-sharing and field operations between the Corps and JAMB.
In his remarks, ACC Ibrahim reaffirmed NSCDC’s mandate to safeguard critical national assets, urging officers to intensify monitoring, access control, and enforcement of safety rules at all JAMB facilities.
He stressed accountability and closer collaboration with PTC heads to ensure proactive risk assessments and quick responses.
He also relayed feedback from field officers, including calls for installation of CCTV cameras, better lighting, improved manpower, perimeter fencing, and increased allowances for personnel.
JAMB management expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would enhance intelligence gathering, strengthen facility protection, and prevent future security breaches across its outstations.
