The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has lifted its restriction on SIM swapping and email changes, allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered details to update them through a controlled process.
The new arrangement commenced on Monday, September 21, 2026, and applies to candidates who can no longer access their registered phone numbers or recover their email accounts.
JAMB, in a statement by its Director of Communications, Fabian Benjamin, said the decision followed the introduction of stronger identity and biometric verification measures, which will help prevent fraud, impersonation, and unauthorized changes to candidates’ records.
However, the facility can only be used once by each candidate and is available exclusively at designated JAMB CBT, PTC/PRC Centres, including applicable state offices.
“Candidates seeking the service must provide their new GSM number and/or email address and a duly executed court affidavit, scanned and ready for upload,” the statement read.
Candidates are also required to log into their e-facility profile, make payment for the service, and proceed to a designated centre for biometric verification before their details can be updated.
JAMB noted that candidates can request a change of the GSM number, email address, or both.
“The SIM swap and/or email change service shall be available only once,” the Board stressed.
It advised candidates to use the facility only for genuine cases and to patronize designated JAMB CBT centres.
The Board added that the reviewed policy was intended to ensure that candidates who lose access to their registered credentials are not unnecessarily disadvantaged.
