The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2026 to accept or reject their admission offers to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The Board had earlier fixed Monday, August 31, 2026, as the deadline for affected candidates to indicate whether they would accept or reject outstanding admission offers.
However, in a statement on saturday, the examination body said it has extended the deadline to afford candidates with pending admission offers, including regular and CUIIA admissions, to take the necessary action before the new deadline.
The Board advised affected candidates not to wait until the deadline, warning that failure to accept or reject an admission offer within the stipulated period would have consequences for the status of such admissions.
According to JAMB, candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed to print and obtain their admission letters, while those who reject the offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted.”
It explained that the measure would enable the Board to update its records and ensure that its national admission data accurately reflects the current status of candidates.
JAMB further clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where their previous admission was offered, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme from the one covered by the outstanding admission, may accept the admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
The Board also advised candidates currently pursuing a second degree but with a previous admission offer that remains unaccepted to reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.
Addressing candidates who have received admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier admission offer pending, JAMB said there was no cause for concern.
It stated that such candidates could reject their previous admission offer without any adverse effect on their 2026 admission.
The Board said the extension was granted to give all affected candidates a final opportunity to clearly indicate their decision on outstanding admission offers and to help maintain accurate, current and reliable national admission records.
JAMB, however, stressed that there would be no further extension after Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
It warned that upon expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected would automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and would remain so on the Board’s records.
The Board therefore urged all affected candidates to take immediate action, noting that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
