Ipswich Town has officially secured its return to the Premier League following a decisive 3-0 victory against QPR on the final day of the season.

Under the leadership of Kieran McKenna, the Tractor Boys will join Coventry City in England’s top-flight for the upcoming campaign.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for McKenna, who has now delivered multiple promotions during his tenure at the club.

The promotion serves as a mechanical resolution to a turbulent four-year period characterized by rapid ascents and a brief setback.

After climbing from League One to the Championship in 2022-23 and reaching the Premier League in 2023-24, the club suffered a painful relegation back to the second tier in 2024-25.

However, the 2025-26 season proved to be a masterclass in resilience, with the team executing an immediate return to the elite level.

This “bounce-back” success validates the club’s long-term project and confirms McKenna’s status as one of the most effective tactical minds in the English football pyramid.

While Ipswich celebrated, the final day brought significant disappointment for Wrexham and manager Phil Parkinson.

Entering the final matchday in sixth place, Wrexham’s draw against Middlesbrough proved insufficient to maintain their position.

Combined with Hull City’s victory over Norwich City, the result means Wrexham will miss out on the play-offs entirely.

For Ipswich, the focus now shifts to the Premier League, where they will look to stabilize and break the cycle of relegation that marred their previous attempt at the top level.
