Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged local and international investors to increase their investments in Nigeria, saying the country’s improving economic outlook presents an opportunity that should not be missed.
Shettima made the call on Monday at the opening of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, where he highlighted the potential of the states to attract investment, create jobs and improve the living standards of citizens.
He said the economic reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration had helped strengthen macroeconomic stability, improve investor confidence and create better conditions for long-term investments.
“Every state possesses immense promise with its unique history, geography, people and comparative advantage. This is the race we must welcome, a race in which states compete to create employment, prosperity and human dignity,” Shettima said.
The Vice President also pointed to recent positive assessments from international credit rating agencies as signs of increased confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
He urged investors to take advantage of the emerging opportunities before the cost of entering the market rises.
The Vice President also described Delta State as a major investment destination, citing its coastline, ports, natural gas resources, refining facilities, agricultural potential, blue economy prospects and solid mineral deposits.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for organising the summit and assured investors that the Federal Government would continue to work with state governments to remove barriers to businesses and encourage credible investments.
