Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has restated his administration’s zero tolerance for criminality, declaring that the protection of lives and property remains a non-negotiable priority of his government.

The governor made this known during a high-level security meeting with the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 12, in charge of Bauchi and Gombe States, AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, as part of efforts to address recent security challenges in the state.

The meeting followed a deadly incident in Pindiga community, Akko Local Government Area, where two persons were killed and three others abducted by unknown gunmen.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, and made available to journalists on Friday.

According to the statement, the governor and the AIG reviewed the security situation across the state, with emphasis on strengthening intelligence gathering, boosting police visibility and enhancing rapid response mechanisms to forestall further breaches of peace.

“Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for crime and assured the police of the state government’s full support in deploying all lawful measures to ensure sustained peace and stability in Gombe State,” the statement read.

The governor stressed that security remains central to his development agenda, noting that criminal elements would find no safe haven anywhere in the state.

In his remarks, AIG Sadiq Aliyu commended the governor for what he described as proactive leadership and consistent support for security agencies, assuring that the Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators of the Pindiga attack and bring them to justice.

He said preventive operations have been strengthened, adding that improved intelligence-led policing and community collaboration would be critical to restoring calm and preventing future incidents.

The AIG also pledged enhanced coordination among security agencies operating under Zone 12 to ensure a more effective security response across Gombe and neighbouring states.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, alongside other senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
