The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has announced the commencement of an Annual Ethics and Professionalism Summit, which will hold every December 4.
This is as the CIBN also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering professionalism, supporting sustainable finance and strengthening capacity building across the sector to ensure a stable, trusted and future-ready banking industry.
Joining the global community in celebrating the International Day of Banks, an annual United Nations designated observance that underscores the crucial role banks play in promoting sustainable development, economic growth and financial inclusion, the CIBN President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Pius Deji Olanrewaju highlighted this year’s theme, “Empowering Sustainable Development Through Finance,” describing it as a timely reminder of the importance of trust, innovation and ethical leadership in the financial sector.
According to Olanrewaju, Nigerian banks continue to demonstrate their growing role in advancing sustainable finance by supporting initiatives that generate meaningful social and economic outcomes.
He added that the sector’s strength and reliability rest firmly on professionalism and integrity.
“Today, we honor our banks, the dedicated professionals who power them, and the millions of customers whose trust sustains and strengthens our financial system,” he stated.
As the global banking sector marks this significant day, the CIBN urged banking professionals to remain steadfast in upholding the highest levels of ethics, professionalism and service.
