Insecurity: Solicitors warn Prince Adebari family against return to Nigerian mediate repatriation, citing a deteriorating security climate in Nigeria.
The family, comprising Prince Adebari, his wife, and three children, had fled the country three years ago following a series of life-threatening incidents.
The ordeal initially began at their residence in Agege, Lagos, following an alleged burglary and repeated attempts on Prince Adebari’s life. seeking a fresh start, the family relocated to the Asero Estate in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
However, newsmen gathered that their sense of safety was short-lived after a failed kidnapping attempt targeting the three children while they were returning from school, a pivotal event that forced the royal family to seek refuge outside Nigeria.
According to reports, the family’s tribulation took a disturbing twist in the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Adebari reportedly sighted individuals she identified as their original tormentors from Nigeria while shopping at a supermarket. This encounter necessitated an urgent relocation to the neighboring Republic of Ireland to ensure their continued safety.
In a three-page legal averment sighted by our correspondent, the family’s long-time solicitors, Anthony Esan & Associates, have formally sought comprehensive protection for their clients within the Republic of Ireland. The legal chamber categorically stated that it has maintained “accurately measured feelers” regarding the situation in Nigeria and concluded that the country is not yet a safe haven for the family.
The solicitors argued that the political and security conditions that precipitated the family’s forced exile have exacerbated rather than improved. To substantiate this position, the chamber referenced recent international security assessments, including the United States’ designation of Nigeria as a country of particular concern, to highlight the collapse of the security architecture and the continued risk awaiting the family should they return.
