Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Nigerians to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s security forces, declaring that the country will not bow to terrorism.
In a statement personalky signed by him on Saturday, the Governor addressed recent security breaches including the abduction of teachers and students in Orire, Oyo State.
The Governor emphasized that criminal elements do not differentiate based on political affiliation.
He stressed that the nation’s resolve must remain completely devoid of partisan politics and divisive rhetoric.
The Governor insisted that the current security challenges are not insurmountable, reminding citizens of Nigeria’s history of overcoming adversity through resilience.
He also cautioned that the ultimate goal of these terror attacks is to weaken collective resolve and diminish public confidence, a victory he said Nigerians must firmly deny them.
Highlighting the critical role of grassroots participation, Sanwo-Olu noted that the government and armed forces cannot win this battle alone.
He called on local communities to remain highly alert, cooperative, and active in sharing intelligence with lawful authorities to ensure criminal elements find no refuge.
While acknowledging that restructuring the nation’s security architecture and improving intelligence gathering requires patience, the Governor reiterated his complete confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.
He praised the brave men and women serving on the frontlines, calling on the public to offer them prayers and motivation.
Concluding his statement with an appeal to the nation’s youth and families to maintain hope, Sanwo-Olu declared that the collective strength of the Nigerian people will ultimately prevail over the agenda of fear, paving the way for a safer and more secure country.
