The Kwara State Government has renewed certificates of operation for 12 private motor parks in Ilorin after they met required standards in transportation, environmental protection, and security.
The parks recertified are Ilorin Emirate Transport Service, KASMAG Line, Success Express Transport Service, RASYAU Travel & Tours Ltd, Fayos Motors Transport Service, Okin Motors & Sons Nig. Ltd, Alubarika Decency Motors, Femali (FM) Nig. Ltd, Bekki & Sons Motors, Young Legacy Line, Royal Ryders Super Express, and Laraku Motors.
Presenting the certificates in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Aliyu Kora Sabi, said the exercise was aimed at strengthening safety measures and ensuring improved service delivery. He described motor parks as vital mechanisms for safe travel, giving passengers confidence that they are boarding certified vehicles within regulated premises.
“By certifying these motor parks, we are equipping our community with the tools necessary to travel safely. Let it remind us of our shared responsibility to protect one another,” Sabi said. “Our roads provide livelihoods, but they also pose risks that must be managed, especially given recent security challenges in the state.”
The commissioner reiterated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration’s focus on safeguarding lives and improving living conditions, pointing to the recently launched Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses as part of efforts to cushion economic hardships.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Alhaji Salau Kabiru Abdullahi, disclosed that ministry officials had inspected all city garages and were satisfied with the facilities at the selected parks. He explained that the recertification exercise, which confirmed 12 out of 49 private parks in the state, will be continuous to maintain safety and environmental standards.
Speaking on behalf of the certified operators, KASMAG Line CEO Alhaji Ganiyu Omoola commended the government for the initiative and pledged sustained cooperation in improving commuter safety across the state.
