Fear and uncertainty have enveloped Ahiara community in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State after a family alleged repeated attacks, intimidation and threats to their lives by suspected Boko Haram members over the disappearance of a woman identified as Chinomso Paschalline Aguh.

According to police extracts and affidavits obtained by journalists, the case dates back to 2014 when Chinomso Paschalline Aguh, born on May 8, 1985, was reportedly abducted along the Kaduna-Zaria Expressway while travelling from Owerri to Kaduna for business purposes. The documents alleged that she was assaulted by suspected Boko Haram members before reportedly escaping from captivity, after which her whereabouts became unknown.

The family claimed that some suspects linked to the incident were later arrested and prosecuted, while Chinomso was believed to be a key witness in the matter.

In a police extract dated November 19, 2025, from the Nigeria Police Force, Ahiazu Mbaise Divisional Headquarters, Ndu Osinachi Chukwuma, 35, alleged that armed men invaded the family residence in search of Chinomso. The attackers were said to have assaulted members of the household, threatened to kill them if she was not produced and vandalised parts of the compound.

The report further alleged that a family member, Jennifer Aguh, was sexually assaulted during the invasion, while the complainant and his mother, identified as Ndu Zita, were allegedly beaten and tortured. Properties within the compound were also reportedly destroyed and set ablaze.

According to the family, the attacks were aimed at silencing Chinomso and preventing her from testifying in connection with the alleged criminal case. They subsequently appealed for police protection and the intervention of specialised security agencies.

In another report filed on March 31, 2026, at the same police division, Ndu Osinachi Chukwuma alleged that the attackers returned to his uncle’s residence where the family had sought refuge after their home was allegedly destroyed. He claimed the armed men assaulted him and threatened to eliminate any family member found if Chinomso was not produced, adding that local youths rescued him before he was taken for medical treatment.

As of the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the allegations, while independent efforts to verify the claims and ascertain the current whereabouts of Chinomso Paschalline Aguh were unsuccessful.
