Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appealed to to desist from sharing information regarding movements of security operatives.
Speaking during a visit to three soldiers injured in a recent bandits’ ambush, the Governor noted that militants are often able to execute such attacks based on intelligence received from civilian informants.
He described these practices as sabotage, emphasizing that security operatives undergo immense risks to ensure national safety.
Governor AbdulRazaq was received at the medical facility by the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sobi, Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume, and the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof. Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf.
Expressing deep sympathy for the families of the personnel killed in the ambush, the Governor announced a donation of ₦20 million each to the families of the three deceased soldiers, totaling ₦60 million.
He also announced a grant of ₦5 million each to the three soldiers currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
“We are here to visit the soldiers who were ambushed by bandits. Unfortunately, we lost three of them, and three others are receiving treatment here. What we can do is pray for them and support the families of those who died,” the Governor stated.
He further clarified that the ₦60 million donation serves as immediate stop-gap support for the bereaved families until the Ministry of Defence processes their formal benefits.
“This development underscores the sacrifice the uniformed men make to keep the country safe for all. They are always in the line of danger to protect us. I urge that all hands be on deck in this battle against banditry and terrorism,” AbdulRazaq added.
The Governor concluded by commending the security agencies for their selfless service and urged all Nigerians to remain vigilant and supportive of the military in their national task.
